Happy New Year from RPL

As we flip the calendar onto 2025, many of us will be energized to start new projects.

We will make our resolutions to learn a new skill, live a healthier lifestyle, or find ways to cut our budgets.

No matter what you endeavor to do in 2025, you can rely on Rodman Public Library to have resources that can help you get started and keep you motivated even after the newness of the new year has worn off.

No matter the goal you wish to achieve, a valid Rodman library card will prove to be an important tool. Whether it is changing habits or pursuing passions, RPL can help.

Want to read more?

Obviously, we have you covered there.

Through our own collection and as a member of SEO (Serving Every Ohioan), a consortium of more than 100 libraries across the state, Rodman Public Library offers access to more than 8 million physical materials to its cardholders on every subject and in every popular genre of fiction.

In addition, RPL patrons can enjoy e-books and audiobooks on their digital devices through RPL’s app as well as the Ohio Digital Library (Libby) and hoopla. This includes thousands of magazines and journals that are sure to include titles of just about any hobby and interest imaginable.

And if you’re looking for suggestions on what to read, our friendly staff can help you find the authors and subjects you will enjoy.

You can also join one of our book clubs.

Want to get healthy?

You can get started by finding healthy ways to eat and cook through an accessible collection of fitness books, digital magazines, and cookbooks. Popular titles that can help you find ways to get started and stay motivated are at your fingertips, even from the comfort of your own home.

How about learning a new skill?

Say you want to grow a garden in the spring, or you want to learn a new language ahead of a trip, or you have always wanted to know how to crochet. In addition to books that can help you do all of these things (and more), the library provides its cardholders with more than 70 online databases available on our website that offer “how-to” instructions for hobbyists and online lessons for those looking to obtain a new skill.

And if you need to obtain a new skill to get a better job or to sharpen your skills for the one you have, RPL has online tools for jobseekers and business owners to meet those goals as well.

Looking to research family history?

Rodman Public Library’s Reference Department has several physical and online resources that can help get off on the right foot. If you need help getting started, take advantage of our Book a Librarian service where you can reserve an hour of time with a librarian who will explain our resources and put you on track with simple research on any subject, including genealogy.

Want to make new friends?

There are lots of ways to connect with your neighbors at RPL, including several of our monthly programs like Rodman Chess Club and Tabletop Gaming. Readers have numerous book clubs that they can choose from as do crafters and cooking enthusiasts. Rodman Public Library also offers special programs throughout the year on several topics and hosts author visits where patrons can mingle among others who have similar interests.

Keep checking our online calendar for these opportunities.

Want to save money?

The best part about RPL’s services is that most of them are free. Instead of buying books and subscriptions to magazines, RPL patrons can borrow them and enjoy them free of charge. The same goes for other materials such as DVDs, CDs and even board games – all available to borrow for free with a valid RPL card.
