Teen Gaming (April 18)

Area teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii & WiiU.  A session is planned for April 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Main Auditorium.  Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level, will be offered. No registration is required for these free gaming events. Tabletop Gaming (April 24)

Feeling bored?

Try playing some new board games at Rodman Public Library’s Tabletop Gaming.

The popular all-ages program returns to the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

Each month, a new game will be featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games.

The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends.

Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program.

Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.

Bag Swag (April 30)

Young patrons, ages 10-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 to make some swag for their bags.

Using their imaginations as well as supplies and tools at RPL, tweens and teens will create items such as keychains and buttons that they can adorn on backpacks and gym bags.

The program is free, thanks to support from Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Teen Nerf Night (May 2)

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts. Space is limited and registration is required. Movie Matinee: Madame Web (May 4)

Rodman Public Library will screen Madame Web on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.

The film, which is rated PG-13, runs 1 hour and 56 minutes.

All movies are free at RPL and fresh popcorn is provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is not required. All ages are welcome to attend, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Teen Writing Club (May 8)

Creative ideas flowing? Join Rodman Public Library for the Teen Writing Club that meets on the second a Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library. The next meeting will be held May 8. No registration is required. Have fun meeting with your fellow teen writers to exchange ideas, hone your skills and share your work, if desired. For information, call 330-821-2665 ext. 217.

Teen D&D (May 13)

Teens, 12-18, can sign up at Rodman Public Library to participate in an ongoing series of “one-shot” Dungeons and Dragons missions every month. Players do not have to play consistently each month to participate.

Those interested can sign up via our online calendar on a month-to-month basis. Space will be limited each month to six players. A DnD Beyond account and email address is required to play.

Before the day of the program, participants will receive a link to the campaign on DnD Beyond via email in order to add their character to the campaign page so the Dungeon Master can review the character beforehand. The Dungeon Master will also inform the participants via email what is needed for their character sheet within the parameters of the adventure (level, items, etc.).

Participants must create a character before the day of the program and have the character ready to go to maximum the time set aside for gameplay. If you need assistance creating a DnD Beyond account or a character, please make arrangements with the Reference Department ahead of time.

Sessions will be held on the second Mondays of each month from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Chess Club (May 15)

Every third Wednesday of every month, chess boards are set up in the auditorium at the Main Library for patrons of all ages who play and are looking for an opponent, those who sort of play and are looking to learn more about the classic game, or for those who are interested in getting started. The next Chess Club will be held Wednesday, April 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No registration is required.
