There’s plenty for children to do at Rodman Public Library this summer.
Here’s a look at some of the weekly and special programs we have to offer:
SUMMER ART EXPERIENCE
Spots are still open for the virtual Summer Art Experience for children, who will be able to view via YouTube four art lessons taught by local art instructors. Art supplies for the lessons will be provided free of charge while supplies last and can be picked up beginning that day. To register for the virtual experience, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223, or click here.
PLAY GROUP
Tuesdays during the summertime means playtime for Rodman Public Library’s littlest patrons.
Starting on June 7 and running through July 26, a play group will be offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays inside the Rodman Main Auditorium.
Recommended for children, age birth through 5 years, the group will give parents and caregivers the opportunity to socialize with others. Board books and toys will be available for the children to play with while coffee and tea will be offered to the adults.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions over the past couple years, many small children and their caretakers have had limited chances to interact with others and the new play group is intended to allow those in attendance to do so in a safe and friendly environment.
A librarian will be in attendance at all times, but a parent or caregiver must be present with his or her child.
No registration is necessary.
For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
STORYTIME AT THE BRANCH
Children attending Storytime at the Rodman Branch Library go on an adventure each week as marine biologists.
Children ages 3 and up will explore a different aquatic creature each week through Wednesday, July 27 as part of RPL’s Oceans of Possibilities summer reading program.
Due to the popularity of the program, two identical sessions will be held every Wednesday, one at 10:30 a.m. and another at 11:30 a.m.
The 45-minute sessions will include songs, stories and a different activity each week. Each storytime will conclude with a short video highlighting the sea animal of the day.
Kids are encouraged to bring a beach towel to sit on each week. After each session, they will be awarded a brag tag for attending. At the end of the eight weeks, those who have attended all of the storytimes will have an entire necklace of brag tags.
Topics for future storytime sessions and their special activities are:
