Imagine being stuck out in Winter Storm Elliott, the “bomb cyclone” that gripped much of the country just before Christmas with its gusty winds and arctic temperatures.
Meet Melissa Weisent, who has been at RPL for 10 years, starting as a page and adding maintenance assistant six years ago to become a full-time employee. As a page, she helps return all items that have been returned to the library to their proper places on the shelves and pack and unpack SEO items. She also cleans both the Main and Branch libraries.
Here are some things to know about Melissa:
Three of Rodman Public Library’s most popular children’s programs will provide lots of winter fun when they return for a 12-week run this month.
The programs – Wee Read, Storytime, and Family Fun Nights -- will run between January 16 and April 6 at the Main Library.
The new year brings big changes to the children’s department at Rodman Public Library.
Rodman Public Library will mark the beginning of a new year with the screening of one of the biggest superhero films of the previous year.
Storytime with Hot Pots at the Rodman Branch Library continues in January with a hot cocoa mug project.
Two sessions are planned, including one on Wednesday, January 4 from 6: 30 to 7:30 p.m., and another on Saturday, January 7 from 11 a.m. to noon.
Rodman Public Library and the Branch will be closed Friday, December 23 through Monday, December 26 in honor of the Christmas holiday.
Both facilities will reopen Tuesday, Dec. 27 for regular business hours.
The libraries will be open for normal business hours on New Year's Eve, but will be closed all day both January 1 and January 2. It will reopen Tuesday, January 3 for normal business hours.
