Freedom Trail Walk and FOL Sidewalk Sale

Freedom Trail Walk

Rodman Public Library is partnering with the Alliance Historical Society to host a Freedom Trail Walk on Sunday, May 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The one mile walk will go from Rodman Public Library through the former village of Freedom to the Mabel Hartzell Historical Home along the Stark Parks Iron Horse Trail.

Guides along the trail will explain highlights of Main Street, Mechanic, and the former village of Freedom. Participants are encouraged to bring their smart phones to listen to descriptions of various points of interest and see photos of how things used to look along the trail. The tour map and description are available from https://theclio.com/tour/1522. We encourage you to download the free app Clio for iOS or Android to benefit fully of the walk.

Tours of the Mabel Hartzell Historical Home and Alliance History Mini Museum will be available for a $5 entrance donation for those who would like to visit either or both facilities. A limit of 10 visitors will be allowed in the house at one time.

There is no charge to participate in the walk and reservations are not required. Parking will be available at Rodman Public Library and the Mabel Hartzell Historical Home. The tour will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes for the round trip walk.

On that same day, the Friends of Rodman Library will be offering a book sale from 1:00-4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the library.  A limited number of books and categories will be available, including hardback and paperback fiction, younger and older children’s books, cookbooks, large print and Amish books. Payment will be a donation of the purchaser’s choice.

For both of these events, social distancing and masks are required. In case of rain, the events will be held on Sunday, May 23.
