One of my favorite books is The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
A piece of historical fiction of an incident little remembered today is the subject of the 2023 One Book One Community selection.
Readers from the Alliance area will be familiar with the names of places found in a Robin Yocum novel.
Many are other blue-collar towns where industries related to the steel industry once thrived like Steubenville, Dillonvale, Cadiz, and of course, Brilliant, Yocum’s own hometown which is also the basis for his fictionalized town of Crystalton.
Described as a seminal new waver, Chris Butler is a musician best known for a few hits from the 1980s, yet he is still writing and recording with many unique works to his credit.
Meet Jeffrey L. Kennedy, a member of the RPL Bookmobile staff who has been with the library for one year, but was at the Stark County Library for 15 years prior to joining our staff.

Rodman Public Library has announced its holiday hours in November. Both the Main Library and The Branch Library will close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23 and will be closed all day on Thursday, November 24. Both locations will be open for normal business hours on Friday, November 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Calling all stuffed animal friends!
Do you need a getaway? Would you like to meet new friends?
If so, on Friday, November 18, your human can drop you off at The Branch Library at 4:00 p.m. for a sleepover. We will have check-in activities to complete and a story.
To mark the launch of the new video game Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Rodman Public Library will host an afternoon of Pokémon fun on Friday, November 18 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Attendees will not be playing the new video game, but will play other games and take part in other Pokémon-related activities.
Registration is required.
Rodman Public Library will host a My Parent & Me Paint Night on Tuesday, November 15.
Children, ages 7-12, and their caregiver are invited to the Main Library at 5:00 p.m. and each will create a pumpkin painting on their two canvasses. All materials will be provided thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library.
