A native of Alliance who grew up reading books at the Rodman Public Library, Janice Hisle will kick off the 2022 Fogle Author Series.
Hisle, who worked for more than two decades as a journalist before becoming a freelance writer and award-winning author, will present "Nothing But the Truth" at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Rodman Public Library.
Hisle's program in September will draw on her journalism experience, which taught her to research meticulously and to write succinct, compelling stories-skills that enabled her to publish her first book, SUBMERGED: Ryan Widmer, his Drowned Bride and the Justice System (Chilidog Press, 2018).
SUBMERGED won the true crime category in two nationwide contests in 2020: the IndieReader Discovery Award and the National Indie Excellence Award. Hisle also discussed her book's findings in a live appearance on CNN's Crime & Justice With Ashleigh Banfield.
SUBMERGED explores hidden angles of a nationally publicized bathtub-drowning mystery, which Hisle covered for The Cincinnati Enquirer through three spellbinding trials.
